What is Project 5:16?
Project 5:16 is a youth oriented activity that seeks to educate and engage youth in the fight against AIDS. Youth in the U.S are encouraged to practice abstinence in their own lives, while at the same time raising money for abstinence education in developing countries.

How much time is needed to plan a Project 5:16 event?
The event schedule in the leader’s guide suggests a group use six weeks to plan an event. However, a Project 5:16 event can be planned in as little as three weeks. When planning your Project 5:16 event, be sure to build in enough time for the participants to engage in a service and fundraising activity. Also, provide enough time for the participants to discuss the bible studies. The bible studies that are provided should be used to facilitate open and honest discussion. Use the scenes from the DVD as icebreakers or to introduce the participants to various topics.

Are the Project 5:16 materials free?
All the Project 5:16 materials are free. The materials should be used as tools to educate youth on AIDS facts and statistics as well as the importance of practicing abstinence before marriage.

What if I need additional materials?
Project 5:16 materials can be ordered online from the Project 5:16 “Free Stuff” page or by calling 1-800-535-5433. When ordering materials, please be sure to include all of the appropriate information so that we can fulfill your order as quickly as possible. There are also other cool Project 5:16 items that you can print or download from the “Free Stuff” page.

Why are the bible studies in the leader and participant guide different?
The bible studies in the leader’s guide are intended for use as a part of your group’s oral discussion. The bible studies in the participant guide are for the participant’s to reflect on and complete on their own time.

What countries do you work in that have AIDS programs?
World Relief currently has AIDS programs in Rwanda, Mozambique, Malawi, Haiti, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Cambodia and China.

How will you use the funds that are raised by Project 5:16 participants?
Donations will help support World Relief’s Mobilizing for Life HIV/AIDS programs that challenge and equip churches and communities to fight the devastation caused by AIDS through prevention and compassionate care.

Where should the donations from our Project 5:16 event be sent?
All donations should be sent to World Relief, Attn: Project 5:16 Team, 7 East Baltimore Street, Baltimore Md 21202.

Can adults participate in Project 5:16?
Project 5:16 is tailored to a youth audience, however it can be adapted for single adult group use. The bible studies are the core of the educational component of Project 5:16. Adults are encouraged to engage in open and honest discussion about issues related to AIDS, sexuality and abstinence.
