Many farmers in the developing world rely on traditional farming methods and popular folklore about agriculture. But World Relief is working with farmers to dramatically increase crop yields. Soil improvement, irrigation, seed selection and pest control are just a few areas we focus on to help provide a steady income for farmers and their families.
Life Changing Testimonies
Jose A. Rodriguez began to entertain the idea of exporting cheese to the U.S. “I made a plan and told myself that I had to havea clear idea, but I was lacking the market information and the resources to buy, pack and export the product.”
“The truth is that I prayed to God and asked Him to give me the opportunity to do it, and He did!”
Jose traveled to preach in Miami, invited by a Christian congregation. He visited a supermarket two or three times while he was there and decided which type of cheese could be exported and the price. “While in Miami, I put myself in touch with someone who distributes cheese and gave him a small sample of the product I would be able to offer.”
Once back in Nicaragua, Jose identified the provider, made the inquiries related to the packaging and labeling of the product and handled all of the correspondence for exportation. “I turned to several places for assistance and presented the idea without finding any real interest, until one day – a blessed day – I related my little project to the manager of the World Relief program. What really impressed me were his diligence and his solid response.” His proposal to export his product was approved.
“As a small entrepreneur, I’m grateful for the support they offered. This program has focused on developing the agricultural sector with non-traditional projects that advance diversification as a long-term alternative.”
